Blog - Johny Blunt teaches Class @ Camp Pioneer in Leesburg

Camp Pioneer was held July 18-21 in Leesburg. It is held for adults with disabilities, ages 18-60. Volunteers from several churches spend the week with the campers and take them horseback riding, bowling, and swimming. The campers love crafts and twenty five campers enjoyed painting their very own penguin. They attached a red bow tie around the neck with their name on it. Some very clever designs were created. I am a member of Sanlando United Methodist Church in Longwood and was happy to bring this craft to share with them.

I also teach a class for BEGINNERS on the first Saturday of each month. There is an ad in the Orlando Sentinel each month.

The Florida Gourd Society has established a fund to provide materials to work with local middle or high school teachers and introduce the wide span of creative aspects of working on gourds. There is a state show each February in Melbourne and students will be encouraged to participate in the decorating competition. I will give you more information about that when I have located a teacher to work with in Longwood.
