Suzanne Oberholtzer is a studio artist who creates handmade paper sculptures and fiber art. She will demonstrate how a sheet of paper is made using a mould and deckle and how sheets can be combined together for a variety of effects, including making 3d forms. She will also discuss how fiber is processed to achieve different effects.
She graduated with a degree in Journalism/Advertising from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and her handmade paper art is informed by her decades-long career as an art director. She has honed her craft in workshops at Penland School of Crafts, The Appalachian Center for Craft, and Craft Alliance Center for Art & Design (St. Louis).
She has served as a local artist-in-residence at Art & History Museums – Maitland. Her work has been featured at the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival, Art in Odd Places Orlando, Women in the Arts The Genius of Women 2019 Competition, Orlando Museum of Art’s First Thursdays series, exhibits at Art & History Museums – Maitland, and Florida Sculptors Guild shows.
Her demo will follow a brief meeting of the Sanford Seminole Art Association monthly meeting. It is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
