A CALL TO ARTISTS: MURAL DESIGN WANTED

The City of Oviedo Public Arts Board, in partnership with the Oviedo Community Redevelopment Agency, is seeking design proposals from artists interested in transforming a wall at the back of the boat house at Center Lake Park into a work of art!

Center Lake Park, a vibrant public space, is in Oviedo on the Park, at the heart of the City's new downtown district. The Park is a popular destination in the City that hosts many festivals and events throughout the year.

Theme: "The 100th Anniversary of Oviedo and Beyond: Past, Present, and Future."

The selected artist will receive a stipend of $3,000.

Project Criteria:

Reflect the values and culture of Oviedo's community and downtown landscape.

Be suitable for public, pedestrian-friendly environments.

Be painted with paint material suitable for exterior to resist the weather in Florida.

Artist Stipend:

The artist of the winning design will receive a stipend of $3,000.00 after signing an agreement with the City. Material/Equipment Budget: Up to $4,000

Application Requirements:

To be considered, artists must follow the process:

1. Completed entry form on the City's website.

2. Design of the proposed mural in color.

3. Current résumé or CV.

4. One-paragraph biography.

5. Artist's statement describing the vision for the proposed artwork.

6. Artist's narrative describing his/her connection to the City of Oviedo.

7. Images of past artwork.

8. Proposed project schedule.

Additional requirements:

The winning Artist must sign an agreement with the city to purchase the mural design for the City's exclusive use.

The winning Artist must provide their own liability insurance to cover the scope of this project.

The winning Artist must use durable, outdoor-appropriate paints/ sealants.

AI cannot be used in any way during the creation of the proposed design.
