After 49 years as a Registered Nurse, Carla retired from healthcare in late 2019. Two years after retirement and with no previous art experience--she took up watercolor as a past time.
In 2022, Carla began painting online with artist Yong Chen and then took two consecutive 6-week classes at the Casselberry Art House, where she later connected with the Senior Artists Group. As her love for watercolor grew, Carla was impatient about "finding" her own style. She began taking art courses through the Artefacto School from a variety of master watercolor artists with diverse styles, including Andy Evansen, Janine Gallizia, Nicholas Tobias, Javid Tabatabaei and Konstantin Sterkhov.
Although she finds loose watercolor appealing, she absolutely LOVES the detailed aspects added at the end of her painting process.
As a novice watercolor artist, Carla has been excited to have her work entered into several art exhibits throughout Central Florida. After only two years of painting, five of her paintings were accepted into her first juried art exhibition at the Ritz Theater, Sanford, FL, in May 2024!
Carla paints almost every day and is as enthusiastic about painting as she was about nursing… She hopes to pack in as much joy as possible as she continues to grow and learn this beautiful, meditative, and exciting medium.
